In April 1953 the Chinese Communists, in their road building program in
Tibet, were oonoentrating on the road between Ch'angtu (N 31-10, E 97-07)
and Lhasa (N 29-39, E 91-06). The proposed road was to run from Lhasa 1
through Medu Ko kar Dzong (N 29-60, E 91-44) and T'aiohao (Giamda Dzong,
N 30-01, E 93-07) to Sho Kh.a Dzong (N 29-60, E 93-55). Prom Sho KKha 1)song
the proposed road was to proceed north2 to join the Gyalam (China road),3
which it was to follow roughly to Ch' angtu.
