Thirteen 10,000 ton- merchant ships which are intended for use in the Polish
service to the Far East are now in the final stages of planning. No actual
construction on these ships has commenced as yet since with the"exception
of a few insignificant craft the Polish shipyards are working exclusively
on'.Soviet.orders. Construction will oommeno in the Gdansk (Danzig) ship-
yards no earlier than the end of 1954. This date has been soheduled-brut
depends entirely on the degree of preoccupation with Soviet interests.
