TYPE) 25X1A 25X1C On the mornine of 29 July l93; 'truck with a holeting gear were being unloaded from flatcars at Brand railroad station. 25X1 On 30 July t no construction work was observed in the southwestern section of. Brand airfield and in the billeting area referred to as Staedtehene Some window and doors vere removed and the apertures were boarded up, The aircraft revetments apparently were vacant and intact. Rifle firing was heard fronetheetereain northeast of the Staedtchen. Individual soldiers wearing red-bcedered black epaulets and a senior lieutenant with red-bordered black epaulets and artillery insignia were observed near the temporary buildinEs, 3, after about 1 August several rail Shipments arrived in Brand..Billeting equipment k food and large crates were trucked to the field. The previously reported arrival of an air unit occurred as follows: At about 10 apme on 4 August 1953s- 15.MiO-15s with auxiliary fuel tanks landed at the field, at intervals of - 500 meters alternately on the right .and left half of the runwav The planes eama from the east flying in 3 wedge formations of 5 planes each. From the noise of 25X1 aircraft engines, that additional 11iG...15s landed at the field during the night of 4 August, On 6 August, 32-MiG-15s with auxiliary fuel tanks were parked in one row on the dispersal areas at the southern taxiwayo Of then planeee,25 were covered -with dark tarpaulins and 7 without terpaulins were parked slightly separate from the others. . Between 9 a.m. and 11 A.m. on 6 August. two IliG-15s without auxiliary fuel tanks . individually circled the field several times, after taking off in an element. The planes landed individually. between-noon and 6 p.m. all MiG-15e except for the 7 planes with auxiliary fuel teaks made two flights. They were out of sight during the air activity. 25X1A The airfield was again occupied by jet fighters in early August 1953. Since about 3 Angus% 141G-15s in fo;mations of up to 12 have been observed flying at daytime and making individual fliehts at night over the Brand-Lieberost area.
