1Q In the night of .1 to 2 May 1953, when part of the construction workers at Drewitz
airfield were still attending the Nay-Day celebration, a 1ar"e wooden storage shed
at the field burned down. The cause of the fire was not determined. Arrests were
made in this connection. Many of the-construction workers at the fie d were
convicts. ~ strike was staged at the field in mid-June.
2. In rid$viy, the runway of the southern taxiway with attached aircraft revetments
was completed. In compliance with an order given on 10 July' construction work on
the northern ta3dww:;- was suspended. Work was still going on at the fuel tank
installationt>
