(FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) 25 September 1953 1e At the beginning of 1951 the Commercial Center of the Electrotsohnical. Industry was transferred from the Ministry of Heavy Industry to the newly established Ministry of Electric Power.' The, head office of the Center is in Warsaw, and its branches are located at Cracow, Lodz, Poznan, Szczecin (Stettin), Katowice, and Wroclaw (Breslau). Each branch has agencies in the smaller towns. 2e The Center is responsible for coordinating and marketing electrotechhical materials: a. All eleatrotechnical materials, both light and heavy, go the the Center for distribution. be All organizations and institutions send a list of their requirements to the Center, which then allocates the materials available. a. From 60 to 70 per cent of eleetrotechnicai ?3quipment goes to the army and to the government, with priority to the former. d. Production plans for the coming year are worked out in December by calcu- lating and balancing local and state requirements against production figures of the year ending. e. It is not known definitely if the Center is responsible for stockpiling; however, from 33 to 40 per cent of electrctechnical equipment is held in permanent reserve. 3. Officers of the Center do not serve as consultants to industrial concerns. 4. The average monthly turnover at the Wroclaw branch in 1950 was from three hundred million to four hundred million zloty 6. Electrotechnidal.... materials are Imported from Czechoslovakia, East Germany, and occasionally the USSR. Elektrim is the export company for goods made in Poland, and Varimex is the import company for goods originating in the Eastern bloc countriesol 7e A Polish army colonel (name urknown,l ) is permanently stationed at Wroclaw to control the allocations eleec tutee' ica'l materials to the Polish army and to Soviet units stationed in Poland,, 8.
