During late August 1953, the East China Military Area (ECMA) received
100 x 75-mm. mountain guns from the Chinese Communist Revolutionary Military
Council. These guns, which had been manufactured at the. Tlaiyuan (N 37-520
E 112-35) Arsenal,1 were distributed to the artillery regiments of the
military districts of the ECMA. The Ordnance Department of the Supply and
Service Command of the ECMA assigned 20 guns to Shantung, 14 to Anhwei,
18 to Kiangsu, and 24 each to Chekiang and Fukien?

1. in 1948 the Northwest Artillery
manufacturing ant at aiyuan was producing a limited number of
mountain artillery pieces. The Chinese Communists are believed to have
continued to manufacture fairly exact copies of Japanese 75-mm. pack s,
including the old Krupp-type Type 41 piece (.908)and the Type 94 ((l934)
mountain gun.
2. n April 1953 the
ECMA was planning to organize one artillery regiment in each of its military
districts, the regiments to be equipped principally with mountain guns taken
from provincial stockpiles or supplied by the Supply and Service Command of
the ECMA.
