1. The smltery and machine shop of the Metal Goods and Machine Tool Factory,
Soroksari? ut 1581 Budapest IX, is entirely staffed by Hungarians. There
is an Office staff of 10-15.and about 80 workers. Office employees receive
regular salaries but the workers are paid according to piece work and have to
fulfil norms.
2. The smeltery is equipped with a mechanized foundry from which pig iron and
baras (sic) castings can be made from scrap which is cut up by a machine on
the spot. There are two furnaces, one electric and one coal stoked.
3. In the machine shop there are lathes, of up to 150 mm, diameter, milling and
cutting machines, all of Hungarian make. There is no Soviet equipment. The
products of the factory are coal mine conveyor belts, small centrifugal pumps,
and small castings.
4. Scrap and coal for the furnace are brought into the factory by dump Cars from
the nearest railway station.
