In June 1953 all sick and wounded prisonera,?who were exchanged-at Panmunjom,
were welcomed and well-,treated by the Communist authorities and citizens of
North Korea when they entered North Korea. The prisoners were-transferred
from Panmunjom to Kaesong by truck. Here they were entertained at parties
where they received luxurious foods. The cost-of eggs-in-Kkes6ng went from
400 North Korean won to 650 won because of the many eggs-used-at.the parties.
The prisoners were put in a temporary hospital in Kaesong.for 10-days. The
Chinese Communist prisoners were then taken to Nanchuria, and the North Korean
prisoners were moved to Plyongyang where they were pit in army -hospitals for
medical treatment. The recovered prisoners were.then.sent home, but those .
without families were given jobs according to a directive from the North Korean
Army General Command. While in the hospital, each prisoner received 700 grams
of rice each day. 50X1 -HUM
