.1. In April, it was determined that several weapons workshops in Poland, including
one_in Czestochowa, are engaged in the alteration of T-34 tanks'into T-34/85 by
the exchange of guns and by other changes in the tanks. These tanks had been
sent to the shops from armored regimentspand after their alteration, they *ate
returned. At the end of April, the same weapon exchange had been made in the
armored regiments at Braniewo (Braunsberg) and Elblag (Elbing). It is expected
that these modifications will have been completed in all Polish armored units by
the beginning of the summer or fall field manueversol
2. At the armored school in Jablonna? near Warsaw, which is training officers and
active non-commissioned officers as armored troops, all of the tanks are of the
Soviet models that are used in Soviet and satellite armies. The school also
has the newest Soviet model tanks, including one 'which is equipped With 120 mm.
armor (sit). Different types of tanks from the western powers armies are also
found at the school, such as Centurion, Cromwell, and Sherman. .The other equip-
ment at the' school is also described as extraordinarily good. The management of
the school is entirely in the hands of the Soviets.
