In July 1953, the State Planning Commission ordered the closing of the Central
n!idical Depot of the (Zentraler Sanitaetspark) of the Volkspolizei ln r'rossen
near Bad Schandau. The order was allegedly given as a result of the "new
line" of the East German government. As of late August 1953. the medical depot
was in the process of winding up its affairs. The bulk of its enuipment and
material as being moved to the Central Medical Depot of the Velksrolizei
in Vittenwalde near Berlin. The remainder was to be distributed among the
district depots of the Volkspolizei.
2. The following are known Volkspolizei district depots:
a. Dresden, Schillerstrasse
b. Weimar, Tieff Irterstrasse 16
C. Halle
d. Neubrandenburg
