1. On about 20 August., one of the soldiers of the Soviet railroad guard detail
I uin Mueirose produced his pass, stating jubilantly-that 25X1 C
they were again permitted . to. enter Gernan restaurants, cone into contact with
the civilian population and buy alcoholic beverages. On 31 August, the inn-
keeper of an excursion restaurant in Kaisermuehl near Nuellrose said that, is
on 30 August, soldiers from the tank camp whom he had refused to serve. herd
liquor i in addition to beer had demolished part of his furniture. He said
that a delegation ppeared at his restaurant to pay hi z? . .
compensation. They declared that they were prepared to pay all damage done.

2~ On 22 Augusts_a cornand post at which numerous telephone lines converged was
located in a woods about 200 meters east of kiloreter mark 23.03' of the Naum-
burg-I.arkcroehlitz road. Three SU-76 were nearby. Three light AT guns were
employed for road protection just north-of point 189 where the road to Pobi
chau branched off. Skirmishers supported by AT guns advanced against a posi-
tion which crossed the road southwest of Markroehlitz and ran in the direction
ofGoeaeck-Poedeiist;2
A shoemakcer. who frequently worked for the troops from the Reuss Ka Berne in
Gera quartered at the Ohrdruf troop training grounds stated that the bulk of
the units was still at the troop training grounds on 2 September. He said
that the troops would return to their post not earlier than Octotera3
4. On September, 50 flatcars with sideracks and 10 converted boxcars were made
available in Jueterbog. On 9 September, 40 flatcars with sideracks were 25X1 C
loaded with trucks and 250 soldiers wearing red-
bordered black epau. e s were entrained at e ueterbog railroad station. The
train left toward perlin.4
On. 9 September, l' officers and F EV who wore tank and artillery insignia and 25X1 C
carried baggage, boxes and rubber for soles arrived in,Eisenach by mils
coming from the direction of Weissenfels. Truck ad cone for them,
