1. The airfield at Snina (R 49/E 96) was built during World War II, but it was
virtually destroyed by bombing toward the end of that war. The concrete
runway and hangar are for the most part still in a state of almost complete
destruction.
2. This airfield is situated to the northwest of the village of Cirooke Dlhe
and is 194 meters above sea level. It is bounded on the north'by the Cirocha
brook and by~forests9 on the southeast it is bounded by a brook which flows
into the Cirocha brook, and on the west lies the village of Dlhe.
3. Repairs being cerried out at the time of observation were not such as would
prepare the field, for use as an operational base by the Czechoslovak Air
Force., The runway, which lies alongside the railroad line and the highway
from Humenne to Snina, is neglected, but a new three-story building
20 by 10 meters in size (see No. 1 on the annexed sketch) has been erected
on the field, near the old hangar,.
4. Fifty meters to the west of this building, six radio aerials have been
set up in a semi-circle, Farther to the southwest is another radio aerial
of another type.
5. The six aerials near the building are all of the same type, They consist of
two metal rods about two or three meters high and from 50 to 70 meters apart,
connected to each other by from six to eight wires which are strung at each end
through three insulators. Adjoining three of these aerials, there are wooden
masts about 15 or 18 meters high and standing five meters from the outer rod.
These masts each end in a "hedgehog" connected to one end of the aerial.
The remaining three aerials do not have this "hedgehog" equipment, The
six aerials described in this paragraph appear to have been installed
sometime ago..

6. The other aerial located to the southwest of these six consists of two
metal masts of frame construction which appear to be new. These masts
are from 25 to 30 meters high and 20 meters apart,, and they are connected
by a rope. A cable leads from the aerial to the building which is No, 1
on the sketch. At night, a strange noise similar to that of an electric
generator can be heard,
installation or of a radio jamming etationj some believe that they^are--- Jv^ I -n V IVI
merely a part of an ordinary military radio transmitting station, Civilians
are not allowed to enter the place. Access to it is over a country road from
the Bela railroad station. The sits of the radio installation is in open
country about 60 meters from the railway, and there is no fence around it,
8. Three-man patrols guard the site of the radio installation. The guards
and technical staff are housed in the large building and are part of the
Humenne military garrison.
9.
The power station at Krompaahy supplies the electricity, but it is believed
that the airfield is also equipped with its own electric generator.
