1. According to local residents, the barracks inatallat3 one at Werneuchen
airfield were occupied by personnel wearing red-bordered bla ck epaulets.
The residents believed that the soldiers were recruits. 23 august was
the first)time that the Soviet personnel had had town b eve since a long
period.
2. On 4 September, no Soviet soldiers were observed at the field, but a VP
unit with the strength of a company was stall oned there. The VP r en wore
claret collar patches. They patrolled along the landing; field, the in-
stal)a tions at the field, and along the fence around the field.
25X1A _o*ae Werneuchen airfield is not occupied by an air unit. 11s the
soldiers with red-bordered black epaulets were no longer observed at the
field it is believed that at present no A`,t, protection exists at the field.
The VP soldiers are assigned as guard perm nnel.
