1. A double cable approximately one meter in diameter, has been laid underground
along the Bulgarian frontier, from the Black Sea to a point at N 41-17,
E 25-26, The line of the cable varies in its distance from the boundary line
'between 800 and 1,500 meters, according to the terrain.
2. At intervals along the route of the underground cable) lead wires, which have
been cut and protrude, above the surface of the ground, are hidden from view
by a bed of earth. The intervals between the lead wires occur about every 10
kilometers along the Bulgaro Turkish border and approximately every four
kilometers along the Bulgaro - Greek border.
The person in charge of this work was a Soviet engineer.
he cable is allegedly intended to supply underground
electric current along the frontier in time of war, in order to render it
inaccessible to enemy forces (sic).
