le Budapest Northern Railroad Bridge.
Steel girders for the span of the Ujpest bridge are assembled near the old Horthy
Miklos bridge on Boraros tor. The bridge is expected to be finished about mid 1954.
2. Budapest Southern Railroad Bridge.
A new span has been completed, besides the reconstructed old span.' The emergency
span is being dismantled. The bridge will eventually carry vehicular traffic and
double railroad tracks.
3.. Budapest Subway.
Cave-ins have ocourred during work on the Budapest subway at Kosauth t(r and at the
National Theatre.
4. Locomotives.
The boilers of 40 locomotives constructed by the Mavag Works for the Hungarian State
Railroads have been found to be faulty. Because they did not prove to be steam-tight,
it was decided to scrap theme
5. Hegyeshalom Budapest Line.

6. Budapest-Baja Line.
The line from Budapest to Kunszentmikl6s has double tracks. It is then single track
from Kunszentmiklos-Ki.sVlSrF6s-Kiskanhalas-Jfnoshalma-Bacsaln s to Baja. The line from
Baja-Alarony4k-Szekszard-Cece-Pusztaegres is single track. After Pusztaegres it is
double track.

7. Dunapataj-Baja Line.
A new single track railway line is being built on the left bank of the Danube from
Dunapataj via Kaloosa-Dusnok to Baja. It is expected to be finished by the end of
1953.
8. Bridge at Baja.
The Danube bridge at Baja has not been improved. The bridge is still single track,
with a roadbed laid over the railroad track, so that road traffic must be stopped
when trains are passing.
