1. Vajda (fnu), the Chief chemist in t1- coal mines in Dudar? (Veszpreem County)
developed, by sheer chance, during experiments on other things, what appears to
be a cure for cancer. It is not yet, possible to say whether the remedy will be
lasting as the discovery is too recernt, but as far as can be judged it has a most
beneficial effect. 97% if the patients so far t.weatrsd ,vi`rh this remedy m,p", '? to
oe cured, but it can only be used on patients who have not been previously treated
with rays.
2. Vajda has apprently not revealed the formula and he has been istalled in a ward
in the big hospital on Pet8fi Sandor Street (the former 111ABI hospital) and pro-
vided with a staff of young oncologists (a 2nd or 3rd:class team). The leading
technicians in this branch, including those from the National Ontological Institute,
now established in the Siesta Sanatorium on Rith Gy8rgy Street, Budapest have
not been informed of this., Vag jda prescribes the doses in each case, and also
every detail of the treatment. This method of procedure clearly falls within the
category of quack doctoring, as laid down in the penal code.
3. At the last monthly conference of (o)ncologists the Chief Oncologist for County
Veszpr4m was asked what he knew about the details of this affair which comes within
his ' pr ovine . He replied that he had heard about it but knew of no cases where
an absolute cure had been effected.
When the news of the discovery first reached Budapest from Zirc, where Vajda
lived, Vajda was arrested by the AV!t and brought in a prison?van to Budapest.
It was the AVH who made all arrang euients for him to c cintinue' his work in the
Budapest hos ,metal, and they are keeping him under constant supervision.
It was rumored in circles connected with his work that, if the "Vajda drops"
prove to be of real value as a remedy against cancer, they will be presented to
the world as a Soviet discovery.
