The two Polish regiments stationed in Jaroslawiec (Jershoeft) returned to Jaros-
lawiec without any fanfare after participating in maneuvers for
about ten days in the area between zczecinek (Neustettin) and Pila (,Eehneidemuehl),
where there are Soviet units. Both of these regiments marched to Jaroslawiec, which
hap no'civilian population, from the' direction of Slawno (Schlawe)..
2. Polish Army conscripts belonging to the age class born in 1930 are being demobilized
from the army if they meet two conditions: 30 monthst service and adequate knowledge
of the Russian language. The conscripts of this age group who do not meet these
latter two conditions must serve in the army until the spring of 1954. Informant
believes that the age group born in 1933 will be conscripted into the army the latter
part of October.
The following is the winter schedule of the soldiers belonging to the two regiments
stationed in Jaroslawiec:
0600 hours:
0600-0730:

Reveille,
Gymnastics, cleaning of rooms, washing, breakfast and preparing
for exercises.
Exercises in and near the barracks, in the field, etc. Field
exercises are held three times a week.
Superficial cleaning of arms and preparing for lunch.
Lunch and free time.'
Preparing for the afternoon exercisers.

1400-1730: Practical and theoretical exercises in the classrooms near the
barracks.
1730-1800: Cleaning of arms and tools.
1800-1830: Preparing for a'uniform and equipment inspection and the
inspection itself.
1830-1840: The-daily orders are read (next day'i activities and other
information concerning the regiment).
1840-2000: Supper and free time.

2000-2040: Political talks by the politruk, listening to the radio, reading
newspapers, and letter writing.
2040-2100: Cleaning of rooms and preparing for taps.
2100 hours: Taps.
Each battery and company in Jaroslawiec engages in night exercises once a week
while units at a higher level, such as battalion level, engage in night exercises
once a month.
Morning and evening prayers are not held as in the past because they have been
forbidden, and on Sundays and holidays no divine services are held for the soldiers.
There are no churches in Jaroslawiec and it has been forbidden to attend the churches
located in the neighboring"villages. Although the soldiers are not,forbidden to
attend church if one is located in the garrison, the politruks manage to arrange
some program which the soldiers must attend during the time church services are
held.
