Physicians on active military service usually attend an annual course of one month's duration on new methods in general and on preventive medicine. Such a course was held in the summer of 1952 qt 'Tst'irkva (N 42-35, F. 23-07) for physicians, pharmacists, and dentists. In winter, courses of three months' duration are held by the Sofia medical faculty, Lectures are given each Mopday afternoon.' Students are issued paper, copy books, and study books vi th serial numbers against signed receipts. Upon completion of the course and after the examination, books must be returned together with notes taken during the lectures. 2e Only physicians are authorized to give injections of tetanus and morphine to the wounded. 3. The lowest rank held by physicians in the Army isMladshi Leytenan t. 4. Army booklets for reserve officers are bound in red and bear the - rds Lichna Voenna Knizhka (Army Military Booklet) on the cover, in black characters. The inside of the cover is blank. The first page has a picture of the holder, followed by his signature, and preceded by a distinguishing VOS number on the top left corner. The second page contains personal details, such as father's name, age, address, languages spoken, courses attended, and,unit, A record of injections and inoculations and of results of medical examinations appears on the inside of the back cover. G.S.S. (Goden Stroeva Sluz.ba)? indicates "'fit for every service," while A.N.S. instates "not fit for every service." The back cover bears the note, in black characters, that the book is the officer's personal equipment, is not transferable, and its loss must be reported immediately. Although the book does not mention the rank of thla holder, the V.Q.S. number m y.contain the indication of rank. 5.
