Each train iii, composed of about 50 cars which are mostly enclosed boxcars. 20 A Soviet gars- sore . c ompoved of infanttt., engineering, and. This entire area is controlled by the Soviets., and no Pol.iah WOP (Military Border Guard) -units or other Polish guards or^ militia are stationed there, and no Pole is allowed to enter it, a o,sp?t. Polish railroad employees who work o:o. the trains that 'bring in the above-mentioned good.s. The partisans allegedly attacked one of these trains near ,Zedzix in June 1953. There is no shipment or transshipment of goods between Poland and the U.SQS.R. through this, area. Many places in this area are fenced in by barbed wire and guarded. by, numerous Soviet sentries. The Soviets have also constructed several branch railroad lines from the Walily station (354/G78) to Lipowy Most (S54/B60) and to Sosowekl? and several sturdy highways for heavy` vehiclesp eto. The railroad track running from the Walily station to the Soviet border is Soviet gauge., and preparations are underway to construct a Soviet=gsage railroad line from Wal1 to Bialystok. 25X1 A 1, Comment.
