Between two to three :r'ailr'oad tv,ranspor ts., escorted by strong units of the Rail-
road Guard (Straz Oc;tirotlyy Kole, owte j-'S0O.K) r, have been going from Bialystok to
the Polish?Sorv:.at frontier towns of Krynki (851080) and Grodek (854/08) every
week. Each train iii, composed of about 50 cars which are mostly enclosed boxcars.

two regiments, is located in the hilly forest axtea between Wily station and
Kzynkti, near the Polish villages of Slug wy, Jornefow and Szuel y0 In these afore?
mentioned exeais,, the Sovietty have eo:ria trusted military' te..r;raoks and underground
stores for -various goods which are brought in by .trains, ns .elyi uniforms', shoes.,
and military linen. . from Lodi; meat;, fish., vegetables and fruit preserves from
various parts of Pol nd coal from Silesia; wood bitild.i g materials arld plank
from the area, of kugustow and Suwalki; and cars. -,ruck e and other equipment. This
entire area is controlled by the Soviets., and no Pol.iah WOP (Military Border Guard)
-units or other Polish guards or^ militia are stationed there, and no Pole is allowed
to enter it, a o,sp?t. Polish railroad employees who work o:o. the trains that 'bring in
the above-mentioned good.s. The partisans allegedly attacked one of these trains
near ,Zedzix in June 1953. There is no shipment or transshipment of goods between
Poland and the U.SQS.R. through this, area. Many places in this area are fenced in
by barbed wire and guarded. by, numerous Soviet sentries.
The Soviets have also constructed several branch railroad lines from the Walily
station (354/G78) to Lipowy Most (S54/B60) and to Sosowekl? and several sturdy
highways for heavy` vehiclesp eto. The railroad track running from the Walily
station to the Soviet border is Soviet gauge., and preparations are underway to
construct a Soviet=gsage railroad line from Wal1 to Bialystok.
