On 1 August 1953, the Sinkiang Military laistrict ( W) Cannand Organized one
tank regiment with men from. the independent motor vehicle bat'taJ..ion .nd two
motor vehicle regiments of the ,`f., tank units of the North China Mil.itary
Area, and graduates of a tank school who were assigned to the.l by the
Casa. Wired :'orce ca nd. The regiment was equipped with only a few
tanks for training purposes and was. based in the eastern suburbs of .Tihua.
Before the end of 1953, the USSR was to end Soviet e4uiPment to the regi-
ment on the Tuhsi (0960/6007) railway
