Military Information from Weimar
On 16 Septemtor 1953, the Panzer Kaserne in Weimar was still occupied by
about 100 soldiers-who wore black-bordered black epaulets including some
with signal .`.nsignia0 About 20 soldiers drilled in the barracks yard on
14 Septembe?, while 5 soldiers engaged in firing practice on 1h.

about 400 troops who wore black bordered black epaulets and about 100 soldiers

On 28 August, a.train of 9 flatcars with sideracks and 4 boxcars carrying
about 80 soldiers with red-bordered black epaulets and. about 25 trucks 50X1-HUM
was loaded at the Weimar railroad station, 6 On 31

the installation. The soldiers prepared the quarters. The middle section of
the installation quartered an estimated 550 men on 31 August, l~. On 8

luetzendorf Kasernr- were loaded onto 20 boxcars and 40 flatcars with sideracks

fatigue duty and 40 other soldiers with red-bordered black epaulets left
the installation toward Fttersber equipped with practice targets and 50X1-HUM

14, On 29 August, the buetzendorf Kaserne was. about 60 percent occupied by
between 500 and 600 troops. Sentries observed wore red-bordered blaek
epaulets,, most of them with motor transport insignia and some with
signal insignia. 6

15. On 29 Augusts the Tannenberg Kaserne was occupied'by 400 to 500 men and
about 4o percent lighted. The troops included about 60 percent with red-
bordered black epaulets with. artillery insignia, 20 percent with red-
bordered black epaulets with motor transport insignia and 20 percent
with red-bordered black epaulets. The installation also housed a personnel
processing office as small detachments 'were frequently seen entering and
leaving the installation..4
16. On 29 August, the Flak Kaserne was occupied by AAA units and'a headquarters.
an AAA unit in Nohra belonged to this unit. There 50X1-HUM
was a continuous exc nge of personnel between the two installations. The
Flak Kaserne was occupied by an estimated 750 to 800 men. on 29 August. 3
17. On 29 August, the Nachrichten Kaserne was occupied by about 200 troops.
Truck C-5-80-01 drove into the installation.
18. On 29 Auguste the Panzer Kaserne was occupied only by a guard unit of
20 to 30 men. The gates were closed.'No sentries were observed. I
