Bolyarovo Cooperative Farm
1. Over % percent (695 of 700) of the families in Bolyarovo village (N 12-09,
E 26-1L8), Elkhovo Okoliya, have joined the TKZS (Tradovo Kooperativno Zemedelsko
Stopanstvo; Cooperative Pam). The Bolyarovo TKZS is reportedly one of the largest
agricultural cooperatives in Bulgaria. The five families which have not joined
the farm possess a total of about 110 acres of land. The heads of these families
are as follows:
a. Ivan Georgiev Pekhlivanov, former policeman, owns 10 acres;
be Georgi Ivanov Yanev, owns 18 acres; Yanev was excluded from the TKZS because
some of his wife's relatives had fled to Turkey;
o. Nikola Tulev Nikolov, owns 40 acres;
d. Khristo Tulev Nikolov (Nikola Tulev Nikolov's brother), owns 40 acres; and
e. Ivan Iliev Pamrikov, owns 50 to 60 acres.
3. The TKZS does not have any tractors or modern machinery of its own, and all the
plowing,, planting, and harvesting is done with machinery from &h unidentified MTS

(Mashino Traktorno Stantsiya; Machine Tractor Station). For this service, the TKZS
turns over a share of the crop to the MTS. The largest part of the crop is de-
livered to the Government.
Civilian Border Guard Units
3. In all border villages there are groups of Communists or active DSNM (Dimitrovski
Sliyuz na Narodnata Mladezh; Dimitrov Union of the People's Youth) members organized
to aid the Border Guard units by patrolling the villages and nearby roads at night.
They also set up occasional ambushes for the purpose of assisting in the capture of
suspicious persons. These groups are known as Grupa za;Sudeystvie (Assistance
Groups).
b. In Bolyarovo, six 2-man armed patrols were sent out each night from 10s00 to 400.
These patrols were armed with carbines supplied by the Bolyarovo People's Council;
the carbines are stored in the People's Council building when not in use.
5. The Bolyarovo Grupa za Sudeystvie had 30 to L.0 members, including the following:

m. Stancho Ivanov Shutovi Communist Party member;
