1, The following plans fir reorganization in East German Government departments
are in process or are scheduled to come into operation on 1 January 19540
(a) The State Committee of Material Procurement (Staatliches Komittee f'aer
Materialverscrgung) is to be dissolved and its departments attached to the
appropriate departments of the State Planning Commission.
(b) A new Ministry for Industry under the present Minis ter of Mining and.
Smelting, Fritz Selbmann, is to be set up incorporating the Ministry of
Mining and Smelting., the State Secretariats for Coal, Powers and Chemistry
respectively, and also probably the Ministry of Construction. It is
likely that for this reason no successor to the former Minister of
Construction, Dr. Lothar Bolz, has been appointed.
(c) The five coordinating offices of the Cabinet for Coordination and
Control, the Office of Industry and Transportation, the Office of Agriculture
and Forestry, the Office of Internal Trade, the Office of Education and the
Administrative Unit, are being abolished.
