CRLI~ East GenwME Jocksdorf Airfield REMARKS 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 L 25X1 25X1 -DATE PREPARED. 18 December 1953 1. In late October 1953, at Jocksdorf airfield Dabout 700 laborers were employed there, the runway Rrith a 25X1 concrete cover of 25 cm had been scheduled to be com!. a ed by late October, and 25X1 the field was to be ready for occupation by VPL in the spring of 1954. 2., At the beginning of November, concreting, work on the runway wc^t of the Preechen- Gross Schacksdorf road was comeloted except for a few meters. The eastern 25X1 runway extension east of the ?rescheu-G,: osc Zchacksdorf road was staked off 25X1 with small pegs for a stretch of about 1.50 meters almost as far as to the Rohr- 25X1 teich (pond) e On 6 November, the staked-off strip was excavated. The earth which been dug but of the runway bed was still 25X1 piled up on the southern edge of the clearing. No work was being, done on the two builoings on the northern edge of the clearings 3. On 16 November, about 100 laborers worked on the eastern end of the completed runway at the field. Dredging work was under way at the eastern end of the runway and in the northern section of the field between the runway and concrete mixing plant. The concrete mixers were in operation. Northwest of the mixing plant a new building was under construction but no details could be observed because of the scaffolding in front. Only a few workers were observed at the site. The main entrance was guarded by civilians, while the convicts camp was still guarded by VP0 25X1 I Oomor_t. Work on the concrete runway at Jocksdorf airfield, which is about 2,750 meters long, 80 meters wide and 25 cm thick, is apparently completed0 It appears improbable that the dredging work at the eastern end of the runway is done for a further extension of the runways The scheduled completion of the airfield up to the spring of 1954 is believed possible. From its geographical location, Jocksdorf.airfield may be suitable for occupation by V?L (Aeroclub); however,, no confirmatory information has been received so faro CLASSIFICATION SEGRM a Approved For Release 2005/08/03 : CIA-RDP80-0081OA003300260004-3
