(FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) The ihjpyard at Kresioe (N 5l/' 55) only does repair.work, mostly on the metal hulls of bare and steamers. Since no repair work is done in the Prague and Usti nad labem shipyards, the shipyard at Kresioe is kept Very busy. 2. The yard has two drydooks where barges are repaired (Nos. I and II on Sketch No. 2, annexed). Drydook No. II was constructed in 1952. Both are of concrete and either three steamers and one barge oe bix, barges ban: b4 tepa3rdd at the, eats ...time . in' eaa+ h of them. There is another berth on the river (No. III on Sketch No. 2) where three craft can be repaired at one time. This dock in protected by a concrete mole. 3. There is no railroad track to the shipyard, and all material is brought in by Sketch Nos. 4 and 5). The shipyard has about 150 permanent employees; when necessary, they are helped out by work brigades, whose members are mostly local women. Numbers of these brigades are paid for their work. tractor-trailer. The workshops and docks are connected by narrow gauge tracks. The two docks are identical. Each has three tracks of three- and-one-half meter gauge. On each track there is a carrier which is used to haul the craft out of the water. The carrier is operated by an electric winch. It rune down underneath the craft in the water and pulls it up to the dry-berthing position. When the craft has reached the final position (See Sketch No. 3, Noe. 1-6) it is hoisted up and supported by beams, leaving the carrier free and the craft in position for repairs. The carrier is about 11 meters long - approximately the width of the vessels it carries - and five meters wide.
