1. The senior officers of the Iraqi Army, including Major General Rafiq 'Arif,
Chief' or the General Staff, and Brigadier General 'Abbas 'Ali Ghalib,
Commanding Officer of the First Division, are loyal to the RgyalFamilyol
However, there has been talk of a possible revolt among junior officers
who have actually been unhappy. Recently the situation has improved considerably
as a result of Government efforts to improve the living quarters, salaries and
uniforms of both officers and enlisted men.
