Between 1 and 13 January 1954, the :roue Kaserne north of Drachhausen was
occupied by an estimated 700 to 300 troops. Officers' dependents arrived
.luring the last days. Daily training activity included close-order drill
with and without small arms at group lev31 with a to 10 men to each group,
t:tri ng practice and practice marches in platoons of 24 to 28 Tien in the
n.or,iing and maintenance duty on vehicles and traininz- with individual T-34/85
tanks in the afternoon. Tank training was held in the gara;; s. On 4, 7, and
u_1 January, 2 T-34/85 tanks each left the installation toward Schoenhoehe and
returned at about 1 p.i;. One of the barracks bt ldi.nt-was almost unoccupied.
