l.. The "Mir" (Peace) Border Guard Komandatur~ in Petrovo,
Sandanski Okoliya was, until 1946, the 3/6 (sic) Border Guard Uchastuk in
Petrich.
2. This Komandatura is housed in an old barracks located about 80 meters from
the northern outskirts of Petrovo. There are two large barracks as follows:
a. A one-story building, constructed in 1947, with an approximate size of
10-12 x 5-6 meters; and
b. A building, 15 x 8 meters in size.
In addition, about three other smaller barracks in the vicinity are used as
warehouses, repair shops and stables. The area of the Komandatura is
about 100 x 200 meters in size and is enclosed by barbed wire. It is located
on the wooded (south) side of the Petrovo plain, northwest of the village.
3. The Kornanda.tura consists of about 45 Border Guard soldiers, 12 or 13 officers
and four noncommissioned officers, starshini and urednitsi.. The Border Guards
are allegedly armed with. 111 1944 rifles with bayonet attached and a smaller
number with submachine guns of the following three types:

5. The location of the Komandatura ammunition and arms depot is unknown. The
Komanda.tura is equipped with one truck and one horse-drawn wagon.
6. The following zastavas are subordinate to the "Mir" Komandatur 25X1
a. Zastave"Dryan" (Dogwood), located about 100 meters south of Novo
Lyakhovo (N 41-25, E 23-30). Sandanski Okoliya in the f

located about one kilometer south of the village; the commanding officer
of the zastava prior to the fall of 1952 was Senior Lieutenant Zakha

of the village one kilometer from the area known as "Pod Sveti Iliya";
strength about 30 soldiers; and
d. Zastava in Paril (N 1,l-26_ E 21_1.l ) - Sandanski 0koli.ya
In case of intensified vigilance in the border area of "Mir" Komandatura,
reinforcements arrive from an unidentified Border Guard Podelenie in Petrich.

8. Regular patrols are. being given by the zastavas of the "Mir" Komandatura on
the path which is parallel to the border line and which begins from Novo
Lyakhovo and reaches the peak "Ali Botush" (N 41-22, E 23-37). Patrols are
given almost every day on this path especially in the area where the path
traverses the "Tsurvenkovitsa" (N 41-24, E 23-32) locality. This is only one
kilometer from the border, which is covered with dense woods of thorny elms
and a few "Bodliv Gabur" trees sometimes right up to the border line.
9. The border line between "Tsrvenkovitsa" and "Popin Doll' is not marked and
has no technical defenses, while the border line south of Novo Lyakhovo has
a fence with a plowed strip.
