1. 13 Soviet advisers and 30 Chinese Communist cadres under the
protection o? wo companies of Chinese Communist troops arrived, at Lants sang
N 22-359 E 99-59) and. Menglien (N 24-509 E 98-35)l from Kunming via Nanch'iao
(N 22-079 E 100-11).
25X1 2. he Chinese Communist military authorities held a public
welcoming party in Nanch'iao. It was announced by the Chinese Communist officials
that the party was to welcome those who had come to work for the border people;
and the people, were asked to strengthen themselves by learning from the "big
brothers", a term commonly used. to refer to the Russians.

3. I bore than 50 Soviet advisers and technicians passed through
Ch'angs a and Hengyang from Hankow on their way to Kusilin via the Canton-Hankow
and Hunan-Kwangsi railways.
