The M,eta1 Goods and Machine Tool Factory (Fean~ e's zersza~ILgep~ya~r) is located in Soroksari ut~ Budapest ~, adjacent to the ?. mpa~y~r Factcry. It has ' approximately 2,300 workers. 2. The f?11ow3.ng two types of machine tools are manufactured on the same assemb7;Y lines a) Turret lathe type RH 100, copy of the American Warner and 3wasy lathe, with 100 mm. bore. b) Horizontal lathes copy of the German Bohringer machine, 350 >Tnn, height of centers x 2,000 man. distance between centers. 3. Actual Outnuts. a.) 65-70 (maximum) lathes per month, approximately 5C~ turret and 50~ horizontal lathes. b) The rate of. output could be increased if production were confined to a single type and both management and workers would prefer this; no decision has yet been taken as to which type should be discontinued. 4? Destination of Pro,,,_ ducts. Machines-are exported to ~ Poland, Rumania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and 25X1 China, but it is not known in what numbers. 6, Bottlenecks. A bottleneck exists in the turning and milling shop, which slows down the assembly potential.. The assembly shop is underworked as a result, and there is great dis- satisfaction ammong workers in this shop, because all pay is by piece-work. 7e Ilefects in Manu.faeture. e.. Despite the fact that the assembly shop is underworked, there is no enthusiasm among the workers and a large number of mistakes occur in this shop, e. g. in the mounting of ball bearings, which are frequently hammered into position instead of being carefully fitted. ~s ~_Wa~es~.. a. A chief fitter, who is also a "3takhanovite" worker receives from 2,000-2,100 Ft. per month. b. The average salary of an engineer is 500 Ft. per month.
