On 23 October 1953, a registration group from Berlin visited the Puenfcichin KVP installation which quartered the units commanded by Muehle (fnu) and Fricke (fnu). On 12 November 195 Captain Kicsslich (fnu) had been reassigned 25X1 to Dresden as an instruction officer. 3. At that time, activities in the installation included instruction, :ports, Sainte-- nancing of motor vehicles, fatigue duty, and painting of pontoons. Soldiers quarter- ed in. the installation said that the summer training program had been terminated in late October 1953. The winter training program was allegedly scheduled to coum uience on 1 December 1953. The reconditioning of the billets of the instruction company which belonged to the Fricke unit was postponed as the instruction company was sche- duled soon to be disbanded and to be divided up to the other four companies of the Fricke unit. On 6 December 1953, about 100 recruits wearing various service colors received basic training in the installation. 2 5. On 18 December 1953 the installation quartered two engineer batta- lions each including one headquarters company and three training companies. The in- 25X1 stallation also quartered an engineer instruction company. 25X1 each company had about 60 men and_about 600 men were quartered in the installa-25X1 tion. 6. Officers identified at the same time included Captain Fricke (fnu), battalion commander and senior officer; Captain Muehle (fnu), batt .on commander; Ceptain.. Wuelfert (fnu), who made numerous duty trips; Senior Lieutenant retzold (fr4u), chief of staff; Senior Lieutenant Schulz (fnu), supply officer and successor to Senior Lieutenant Giesler (fnu), who was transferred to Muehlhausen; Senior Officer sakler y (fnu) , political officer at the installation; Lieutenant Halligan (fnu), presumably a company officer; Lieutenant Schonknann (fnu), and Junior Lieutenant Willi Schulz, head of the dispensary. 1 CLASSIFICATION SECRET, Approved For Release 2009/05/26: CIA-RDP80-0081 OA003700970006-9
