In early December 1953 headquarters of an unidentified North Korean army battalion was at "Kae Tong Mol"1 (N 37-56k E 125-24) (YC-113014) in south- western Hwanghae Province. One company of the battalion was at Kangnyong-ni (YB-2197), one at Sagon-ni (YB-068884), and one on Sunwi-do (XB-9774) and 6hwa-do (XB-9780),2 2. The headquarters of the company stationed on Sunwi-do and Ohwa-do was at 6gong (YB-006771). One platoon was on 6hwa-do; one platoon was stationed. at Kojin (XB-968741), one squad at Ch'angam-ni (YB-046802), and the remainder of the troops were at,( gong. On Sunwi-do there was a continuous three-man patrol of the beach, from.XB-974743 to XB-.960735. The beach from XB-974760 to XB- 985774 was patrolled at night. An observation post at.XB-962742 on Hill 173 was manned constantly in order to observe any attempt to infiltrate the island. Two heavy machine guns, two anti-aircraft guns, and two 60-mm. mortars were on Hill 133 at YB-.015785? Comments "Kra Tong Mot" appears to be .a-local name only. as of eceni er 1953 headquarters of the 3 Battalion of the 21 North Korean Army Brigade was at Ongjin (YC-o8ol), with the companies of the 3 Battalion at the following places: 1 Company on Sunwi-do, headquarters of the 2 Company at Sokp?o-ri (YB-1684), and headquarters of the 3 Company at Kangnyong-ni.
