2, No army personnel or border guard troops were observed in the Neastadt post area
prior to 20 October 1953. Detachments of the border guard troops were in the
former custom-house in Kunzendorf (P 51/J 03), directly on the border; in Eich-
haeusel (P 51/H 93); in Ziegenhals (P 51/h 83) at the VuchoXazy Niasto (Ziegon-
hals City) railroad station; in Schoenwalde (P 51/H 83); in Kroesohendorf (P 51/
J 03)4 and in an inn, about 400 meters east of the Dittersdorf (P 51/J 03) rail-
road station, on the north side of the railroad line. A WOP (border guard troops)
headquarters was stationed at Ziegenhals. 2 Eo continuous wire entanglf.nnent
was in the Aeustadt ziegenhals border sector in late October 1953. One continu-
ous wire entanglement was near Schoenwalde and another continuous wire entangle-
ment was between Kroeschendorf and Dittersdorf. Southeast of Kunzendorf, the bor-
der was marked by a strait-) of plowed terrain and wooden poles topped by wisps of
straw. No guards or obstacles were on the Czech side of this area. Watchtowers

under reconstruction in October 1953. Workers from Krappitz and the neighbor-
ing village s worked there. The area extended almost as far as the hmTpitz -
