le During the past few months the production plan for the Lenin Iron and Steel
Works (formerly Nowa Huta) has not been completed. The workers have thereby
lost any claim they might have had to a bonus. Their wages are 1,000 zloty
per month,which allows them to cover their living expenses for a period of
approximately ten days.
2. In February 1954 there was a surplus of pig iron in relation to consumption
norms. The steel works do not want a reduction. In this connection it was
decided to postpone the starting up of the furnaces, due to begin on 15 June
1954, for two months. It is'more than likely that this postponement will be
extended further.
