ffiu ar beet harvest, Because of the exceptionally dry season the sugar
beet harvest' was, very poor. The sugar content was high but the beets
were very small. At the beginning of Nolrember sugar beet harvesting
was far from completed, and it is not believed that quotas will be
fulfilled.
Potatoes. The potato crop was quite good but the potatoes themselves
were small and of poor quality. Because of the dryness of the season
they were soft and spotty, the majority being only fit for cattle fodder.
3. Second cutting of halo There was no second hay harvest this year as the
grass had all dried up because of the droughte and. a considerable shortage
of hay is therefore expected.
4. Fall fruit crop. The late fruit crop was very good, especially that of
pluses ;
5. Fall s*yLq&. Because of the drought no winter rye or wheat had been
sown by the and of October. On lighter soil some corn was planted,
but it did not come up in the dry soil.
