Some time between 1 and 10 February, 1954, a passenger train was derailed in
the neighborhood of Olsztyn (Allenstein). Thirty-six people were kiL d'and
about One l unfired seriously injured.
2. A commission of incgairy, which cue from Wars"., subsequently armounced that
the accident was due to the exhaustion of the locomotive engineer because of
Overwork. On the other hand, the railway personnel maintain that the .loch..
motive was manned by a youth .brigade which decided to increase its norm in
honor of the Second Congress of the Polish Workers' Party (PZPR) and became
so exhausted that it provoked the accident.
