(FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) 1a It was reported at the beginning of 1954 that air-raid defense training courses for civilians were to start again and some of those notified have been informed that as of 2L. February 1951 attendance would be compulsory. One woman was warned that there will be fines of up to 300 forints for failure to obey. 2. The courses were to be run by thF Civil Police and were to be more strictly controlled than in 1953, when trainees often did not turn up, or sat about knitting, talking, and smoking.. 3. The instruction was planned to be for two hours a week. Those at work for the most part were to attend at their place of employment; private persons in their residential district, 5? 25X1 No distinction appears to have been made between age, sex or type of indi?- vidual. Trainees have been given to understand that the course of instruction will be divided into: poison gas recognition, blood transfusion, first aid, bandaging, rescue work, fire fighting etc. Instruction in defense against chemical, atomic or biological warfare was not contemplated. Recpgni:tion of gas was still to be by sense of smell.
