The reasons for the suspension were as follows:, a. The public appeared to be in no hurry to collect their cards, and in Gdynia alone some 1,500 cards remained uncollected. b. The regulations laying down the issue of identity cards do not permit the retention in the issuing office (B.D,O,) of cards which are not collected. Such cams have to be sent each time to the 4o*odship Citizens' Militia Oomman'd in Gdansk, which thus accumulated a considerable number of them. c. In order to clear this accumulation, the issue of further cards was suspended, and notices were sent to all those who had failed to collect their cards in the past, urging them to do so at once. d. When the uncollected cards were thus finally distributed, the issue of further cards was resumed, as stated above.
