Leaders of the Communist Party of Ecuador (PCE) in the Province of Guayas nominated Segundo RAMOS Navarrete, Enrique GIL Gilbert, and Marco Tulio ORAMAS as the PCE candidates in the June elections for the Chamber of Deputies. The PCE plans to support these persons in coalition with other political parties or with "independent groups". 2. The PCE newspaper, El Pueblo, is in imminent danger of being discontinued for lack of funds. The failure of El Pueblo would be a very serious setback for the Party. 25X1 A SECRET
