Shortly after the war, the Polish Air Force had three attack regiments which were stationed in Lodz, Strachowice (near Wroclaw) and Bydgoszcz. These three regiments formed, the basis for the development of.the three air force divisions of attack planes which are in existence today. These divisions, which are each composed of three regiments, are gradually being equipped'with Soviet jet bombers called IL-281 the propeller-driven planes, called IL-2 and IL-10, which are still used by some of the regiments are being gradually returned to the USSR. 2. Only Soviet officers are in command of Polish air force regiments and they also occupy the most important positions in the regiments.. Young Polish officers, mainly of the rank of captain, are not permitted to fly unless accompanied by a Soviet and they have no possibility to command even the smallest air force unit, called a "key"(klutzwhich is composed of three planes. 3. located in the following towns: units of these regiments are a.
