The piers were ih bad condition and obviously needed repair. The piers lacked camels= however, there were some loge between the ships and the piers. About eight cranes were observed in the whole harbor; they were small size and were old models. The warehouses and surrounding buildings looked dilapidated, with broken window panes and sagging roofs. The local inhabitants were poorly clothed, especially the women. A small shipyard was observed in which a trawler or small patrol boat was under construction, SECRET/CONTROL a U.S. 037ICIAI.S ONLY COUNTRY USSR ( Black Sea) were seven s ng vessels, whaling boats, with large housing amidships for a large crew. These were not standardized types, but were of various sizes. There were only a few small patrol boats in the harbor. No warships were sighted at sea on the trip through the Black Sea.
