1. Conditions are good in the Bhamo-Myitkyina.area of Burma and the Government
of Burma is maintaining control. There are no insurgents, but there is
occasional looting by the Chinese Nationalist guerrillas along the Bhamo-
Myitkyina road. It is rumored that when the Nationalists are captured or
killed, new American carbines are'found in their possession.
2. A local long-time acquaintance said that Nagas are now being recruited by the
Burma Army.
