war. During the war it was drained and exploitation began,
4. The planned output amounts to 2,000 tons per day but this quota is. achieved only
during two to four months out of the year this 25X1
"fulfillment" of the quota is only a ruse which is expected to influence the
workers in a positive sense and keep them at, their place of work because the
migration of the workers is a great problem for mazy work establishments.
5. The entire underground part of the mine is electrified. The coal is transported
by so-called shaking gutters and rubber conveyor belts to electric trains and by
the trains to the shafts. 25X1
6. There are two excavating shafts operated with steam engines,
excavating machine of Soviet make was about to be installed
A new electric

he installation was supervised by a Soviet
7. The mine is supplied with electric power by the Malobladz power plant at Bedzin.
It has its own Zakel-type transformer station.

junction Zagorze Dabrowskie and from there in the direction emieszyce or
Dabrowa Gornieza, F__ I 25X1
9. The whole mine is partly surrounded by a brick wall and partly by a fence. The
entrances and installations are guarded by 30 men. of the Industrial Guard armed
with rifles. A prisoners' camp, nearby, is guarded by the prison guards.
10. There are three kinds of passes, entitling a person to enter the mine area: passes
for visitors, valid only for the day of issues, temporary passes for newly hired
workers, valid until the proper pass is issued, and the regular passes for per-
manent workers (with pictures), issued only once a year but extended every three
months. These passes are issued by the personnel.. section and signed by the com-
manding officer of the Industrial Guard.
11. The mine employs a total of 2,100 workers, 200 of whom are administrative and other
white-collar personnel and 1,900, including 200 prisoners, are manual laborers.
The production workers work in three shifts i?e,;, from 0600 hrs, to 1400 hrs.,
from 1400 hrs. to 2200 hrs, and from 2200 hrs, to 0600 hrs. The wages of white-
collar personnel range from 400 zl, to 2,000 zl, depending on the position held
and the individual pay group. Technical employees dealing directly with produc-
tion earn from i100 zl. to 4,000 zl. monthly, depending on the output of their
sector., Other technical employees, employed only indirectly on production get
from 800 zl. to 2000zl, monthly and their wages depend on the total output of
the entire mine. The basic pay of a miner ranges from 16 z1. to 35 zl, per day
(8 hours work), depending on work security (sic) and work conditions.
12. Considering the basic pay the following bonuses were calculated:
a. A premium of 15-30% of their basic pay was given to skilled miners, according
to their qualifications,
b. A premium of 10-30% of their basic pay was given to all miners working under
especially heavy conditions, according to circumstances.
