A noteworthy fact has been the increase in the number of young people among the churchgoers, and also the presence of members of the army, which hitherto was quite exceptional. 2. Members of the clergy who do not openly show their hostility towards the regime are left unmolested by the authorities. The most requent form of punishment applied by the regime towards. recalcitrant priests is to transfer them to rural parishes. "Patriotic priests"l are, on the other hand, universally detested by the public. Comment. 1. Those priests who actively cooperate with the Communist regime.
