RD REFERENCES THE SOURCE EVALUATIONS IN THIS REPORT ARE DEFINITIVE. THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. (FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) to The Kukleny plant of the Victorious February Works (Zavody Vitezneho Unora) in Hradec Kralove (formerly Skoda Works Hradec Kralove) delivered,in the third week of July 1953, the first huge high-pressure tank of the series ordered by the USSR.The tank weighs 32 tons, is made of solid steel on the outside, and plated inside with copper sheets three mm, thick. The standard operating pressure is 80 atmospheres, and testing pressure, mainly for invisible leaks, may be applied up to 120 atmospheres. The main technical problem consisted of the direct welding, and this was achieved by a special technical pressure, so-called argon arc welding, unusual in this kind of work. Another technical improvement was the direct welding of copper'inlays of the apertures to the rust-resistant washers, by a copper welding mixture, previously done exclusively by a silver soldering mixture. 2. Power hammers are being produced in a plant of the Victorious February Works in Hradec Kralove which is located in the vicinity of the village of Plotiste, along the highway to Jaromer. In the summer of 1953, one of the workshops was engaged in making a 10-ton power hammer.for the USSR. 3o Other workshops of the Victorious February Works make machinery and equipment for sugar. refineries, hydroelectric plants, etc, STATE X ARMY X NAVY X SECRET/CONTROL - U.S. OFFICIALS ONLY X TF l T AEC r -1 Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2010/02/04: CIA-RDP80-0081 OA004200970002-7
