1. The Jozef Strus Municipal Hospital in Poznan is located on ul. Szkolna if 8 - 12
(streetcar lines if 1 or if 5), and has the following wards:
Surgical
Internal diseases
Infectious diseases
T.B. with a special section (so-called "oddzial torakalny")
Gynecology and childrens' diseases
Dermatology
It also administers a small neurological clinic, located on ul. Grobla if 26.
2. The hospital has approximately 600 beds, the neurological clinic approximately
60. In case of emergency, however, approximately 650 beds can be set up in the
hospital, it is filled all the time and often patients have to wait to be ad-
mitted.
3. The hospital is completely equipped. Most of the equipment is old prewar Polish
or German. It has three ambulances.
Medicine is extremely short. Penicillin is known and used; it is a Polish pro-
duct but effective,

Administrative director, Cicholewski (fnu), 38 years old, 176 cm high,
blond hair, decent person.
Chief of the dermatological section, Dr. Alkiewicz (fnu), 50 years old,
174 cm high, grey hair, married, one child, a son, no party member,
held lectures at the Poznan university.
6. The hospital has approximately 18 doctors, 30 nurses and 50 assistant nurses.
In addition, students of the medical faculty of the Poznan university come to
the hospital every year for their practical training as assistant doctors.
Nevertheless, the hospital is understaffed and consequently overworked.
