The action of removing teachers, who are not members of the United Polish Workers' Party, from basic schools in the Poznan Voivodship has already 25X1 begun. They are being replaced by Party members. 2. Many teachers who did not hitherto belong to the Party have applied for admission as Party candidates for fear of losing their jobs. The majority of these applications were rejected because the Party committees considered that the applicants were not in fact bona fide but were merely anxious to secure, their livelihood, and that therefore no such candidate would ever become;a good Party member. 3. At the end of February 1954, the security authorities at Wolsztyn discovered by accident an "underground organization" numbering 48 boys, ages 8 to 13. According to the boys, their aim was to "blow up Soviet trains". This organization was only a children's game, but it was remarkable that the boys were the sons of Party activists. The blame was therefore put on the parents, who obviously must have discussed subjects at home which led the children to the idea of starting an "underground organization". 4. Early in February, 1954, members of the Citizens' Militia (MO) took samples of typewriting in offices in the Sulechow area. The reason for this was subsequently found to be that one of the employees of the '.presidium of the voivodship national council at Zielona Gora, who often made business_trj.,ps in the area, flooded the District Public Security Office with anonymous letters in which he charged various political activists with different offer..des. The writer was eventually discovered and discharged from work. Nevertheless, several Party activists were arrested and the investigations carried out proved that most of the accusations were-justified. SECRET/COT?TROL_1 . S .
