at the Templin troop-training grounds. On 6 June units bi thq 120bh:J1AA Regiment
returned from Altengrabow to Bernau. In late May and early June some unite of
the 7th Guards Mechanized Division returned from Lieberose to Ftlrstenwalde. On
10 June units of the 25th Tank Division, with anti-aircraft artillery and scout
cars, were transferred from Templin to Altengrabow. On 9 June a detachment
of the 63rd AAA Division returned, presumably Pram iiustrow, to Eberswalde (Britz
Camp).
5. Third Shock Army. Farly in June.-Camps Bombers 1 and 3 near Born, Letzling
Heath, were occupied to capacity by the 19th Guards Mechanized Dlvision and Army
troops, On 10 June heavy guns were fired individually in the training area.
On 11 June three empty trains were assembled at the Burg railroad station,
presumably to carry troops to Letzling Heath or Alte~abow. During the first
part of June, one battery of the 10th Guards Rocket-LauncAeT,Regimeat;. '
(IXth Motorized Rifle Corps) went each day, in rotation, to Die Levitz
firing range (described as north of Ludwigslust). On 12 June several 122-mm.
field howitzers were fired at Die Levitz firing range; these arg believed
to have belonged to the 4th Artillery Brigade. On 10 June there was an exercise
involving 10 tanks of the 91Fth Guards Motorized Rifle Division.
6. Elghth Guards Arm. On 9 June the Army headquarters was still st Weimar-Nohra.
On 10 June the artillery bx+~gslies of the Army were still at Altenburg; there was
firing with live ammunition in the 1Cammerforst area 4 kilometers north of
Altenburg. On 12 June the 208th Artillery Brigade was still at G~ra; iatenslve
work was going on in the enlarging of the training grounds of the military post.
There was continuous firing practice at the Forst-Zeitz training area. On 10
J1u~e the 316th Guards Rocket-Launcher Regiment was at Saalfeld. On 5 J1iae
the entire 39th Guards Motorized Rifle Division was at Plauen. On 30 May
the Gotha barracks were occupled to capacity by units of the 57th Guards
Motorized Rifle Division. On 9 May the presence of the 172nd Guards Motorized
Rifle Regiment at Gotha was confirmed. Since early May an engineer battalion
of the 21st Guards Mechanized Division has been observed in the Aken area.
