A plant for the production of mines and depth charges, which was in Modlin before the war, was transferred after the war to Kielce. The inspectors in this plant are Polish naval officers, specialists whb have been called up for military service and assigned to this plant. Some of these inspectors are armament specialists, but have not previously served in the Navy. 2. In Gdynia, or in its immediate vicinity, is a small private production plant2 which makes parts for fuses and torpedo mechanisms on Navy orders. This plant employs lathe operators, milling machine operators, and a welder. Production is supervised by one naval officer and a functionary of the Gdynia Public Security Office. 3. Between the 1st and 30th of April 1954, several naval officers left Gdynia for the USSR. It was given out officially that they were attached for study to a Military Academy in Russia. One of the officers returned to Gdynia after several days and stated that, on arrival in Moscow, all of the officers had been given a thorough medical examination; as a result, this officer was sent back to Poland. Those officers who were classified as fit were given injections against tropical diseases and were waiting to be sent by air to Korea. 1 Comment: The Granat Armament Plant and the Rokossowski Armament Plant are the only two such plants located in Kielce (R51/U73). 2 omment: Not further identifiable. r--- REPOR11 DATE DISTR.
