A check on the orientation of the two paraboloids was made with a compass. One was found to be pointing in a direction of 0450. The direction of the other could nc be determined, but it seemed to be at 090? to the first. b. The diameter of the paraboloids was estimated at 1.2-1.5 m. 2. The Ruhn decimeter lite 2 At the beginning of April 1954, an inspector from VEN Schwerin was at the Ruhn site and later reported as follows: a. An 85 m high iron mast had been erected.. There were two paraboloids on it, at right angles. to each other. They were at least 160 ems and at most 180 cros in di _ amete4 this could be estimated exactly because there were at the tine two assembly men working up on the mast near them and their heights could be compared with the paraboloid diameters. b. One paraboloid pointed roughly northwards and the other roughly westwards, but this was an approximation only, as, apart from anything else, the weather was bad and visibility poor, 25X1 c. Assembly men from Sachsenwerk.Radeberg were at the station. installing instrument cupboards. Mains leads had been installed but an emergency 7owe r unit had not yet been delivered, It .sounded as it it would be about ttro'-to::three e g ft would be ready to operate. SECRET. Site between Brieselang and FinkAnkrug a. Just west, of Berlin., by the side of the railway line from r'riesclalg to Finkcnh:rl?g (i.e.at about UU660275) four peraboloic- wore seen an early April 1954. They 6a ,,;h had a diameter of about 70-90 cmmns (judged by eye from several hundred meters aw y and were mounted on a lrooden tower. It .wa,s p ?.ssible to CO smore than that the tower was about 3 m higher than the tree-topps. Two of the paraboloids were pointing, in paralici, roughly north. he other two were apparently pointing south. b. When this installation was seen a second time from r '~~w~r.S.c11y r-ovirf, train , it was further noticed that there was no bui1(1L r: at the site; 4. Site by the Neuendorfer Canal A wooden tower similar to that mentioned in paragraph 3 above was also seen under construction in April 1954, 100 m east of the point where the new rail- way line round Berlin crosses the Neuendorfer Canal. No paraboloids were seen on it. 5. Site near Kleinbocka, Thuringia a. A steel tower, roughly estimated at about 35 in high, was seen in April 1954 not far from the Gera-Triptis road, near Kleinbocka. (Site of installation: FB097328) The tower is about 250 m from the main road and carries at the top two paraboloids, each at least 1 m in diameter. They are aligned at 180? from each other: - paraboloids from below Their orientation could not be exactly determined, as the whole site was wired off, but they appeared to be oriented at exactly 900 to the main road (i.e. they point about NW and SE). b. Two large barrack buildings were seen at tho foot of the tower. Only civilians were seen on the bite. c, The local people spoke of the installation as a "'jaraner" and said there was a similar one on the Galgenberg at Gera, the highest point there.4 1. Water tower at UTM FE570455. 2. Ruhn itself is at PE940085, but the exact site of the dm installation is not known. 3. The new railway line is not marked on any of our large scale naps. It branches off the Brieselang-Finkenkrug line, so that the above site appears to be at about UU689305. 4,. Almost anything is said to be a jammer these days. 11c are unable to identify this high point by its name,-','~but the highest point sc:cros to be at TS922403.
